Prof. Dr. von Puttkamer, in his 50 years with NASA, has always stood up for those who make access to NASA easier for those who follow. This award is given to the team/exhibitor whose project involves the visitors and spectators in a sustainable, practical and informative way (e.g., Tinkering Street, soldering stations, playful programming, assembly, demonstrations, etc.). Following Puttkamer's life's work as a promoter of numerous female engineers and astronauts up to Nichelle Nichols (lt. Uhura), girls have an advantage in boy-dominated disciplines. The basis is a submitted concept and the jury's evaluation after a visit with an interview on site.
Sergey Korolyov designed the Soyuz rocket, which has served well for over 60 years, including for the ISS. It is the safest manned rocket in the world. He had to make many personal sacrifices for his vision. This award is directly supported by his descendants for those who do not settle for half measures and can credibly prove to the jury in writing and orally that they have given their all.
